From hardware and materials through processing and properties, this book presents a broad coverage of blown film extrusion and ensures a useful balance of theory and practice. This book explains certain effects in the blown film process so readers are better able to troubleshoot and improve their operations. Also, current practices and equipment are emphasized to keep readers up-to-date with the most productive and efficient technology.

Companion CD: The Blown Film Extrusion Simulator enhances the learning process. This software was developed to teach blown film extrusion equipment operation and processing principles. The realistic graphic interface and intuitive operating techniques were designed to emulate processing methods so learners can quickly move from the simulator to real production equipment. Cantor, K.

Kirk Cantor is a professor of Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He holds a Ph.D from the Pennsylvania State University.

His primary consulting areas are extrusion and instructional software for the plastics and polymer industry. He authored the book Blown Film Extrusion, which includes The Blown Film Extrusion Simulator and is available from Hanser Publications. He also provided development work on Interactive Training in Extrusion (ITX) and SPC in Injection Molding with Dr. Chris Rauwendaal of Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering, Inc.

Cantor developed polymer processing simulators under an Advanced Technology Education grant sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This ATE grant has spawned the Plastics Resources for Educators Program (PREP) and its website.

When he’s not working, Cantor enjoys spending time with family and playing sports such as basketball, softball, and Frisbee. He also enjoys being involved with his church family.
