Lean Factory Design

Product information "Lean Factory Design"

Designing Future-Proof Production and Logistics Systems

This book is intended for anyone seeking to design factories holistically, implement effective change, and operate them sustainably—and who recognizes that isolated lean initiatives and local optimizations are not sufficient. Lean is understood here as a production system that is fundamentally different from the mindset of traditional mass production. The focus is on the factory as an integrated system. Only this perspective makes the structural drivers of cost, performance, and transparency visible. With the Landshut Production System (LPS), the book provides a consistent model that integrates lean as a mindset, system logic, and design approach, while clearly distinguishing between principles, methods, and tools.
It also expands the concept to include lean-compatible automation and complements it with a field-tested Lean Guide: a streamlined, project-oriented methodology in seven clearly structured steps—developed from over 20 years of experience and more than 220 lean projects.

- Lean as an overarching mindset rather than fragmented methods
- Systemic factory perspective “from dock to dock”
- Clear differentiation and integration of principles, methods, and tools (LPS)
- Lean-compatible automation as an extension of the design framework
- Field-tested 7-step methodology for sustainable implementation
